frequently asked questions

who on earth are you?

Valid question, dear reader. I am an adventure enthusiast who also happens to enjoy writing. This blog marries the two hobbies. You may read the short version about me and the site, or there is a more detailed version, if you fancy that.

What’s your favorite place?

A fun but dreaded question. I often answer with a lengthy response which is undesired by the party asking. Something like, “each place is so different” or “I didn’t love this place, but I had an amazing time,” is usually said. Though if I had to pick one, I’d say Peru is my favorite. Iceland, Prague, and Myanmar are solid runner-ups.

how do you travel so much?

Work. Work. And more work. (And a little more work after that). When it comes to the work grind, I’m a bit of a masochist, to be honest. Working in bars and restaurants allowed me to travel as I pleased, and then I worked in the travel industry (in sales) when I settled back down in Seattle. Between generous time off and work-related trips, I could explore quite a bit.

how do you travel on a budget?

Ah yes, it always boils down to the money, doesn’t it? Lucky for you, I have a whole page dedicated to travel resources and how to keep it tighter on the wallet. How to Travel on a Budget may be a post with your name all over it.

are you scared to travel solo?

Honestly, the scariest thing is often the kindness of complete strangers. Solo travel isn’t for everyone, but I personally revel in it. I love the freedom, the lack of pressure to entertain, and the ability to move around as I please. Even when traveling with others, I like to fit in “me-time,” even if that’s a solo run for morning of coffee.

what is the greatest animal on the planet?

Okay, so I’m just assuming everyone wants to ask, so I’ll get ahead of the game. It’s a real toss up: pangolins have my heart, but I’m a huge fan of the octopus, and have you seen a miniature donkey!?
